Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
